The Noel Sweeney Foundation

The Noel Sweeney Foundation Banner.

About us

The Sweeney Foundation is a charitable Trust, set up to support local communities in the West Midlands, carrying on the charitable works undertaken by the founder of the Tara Group, Noel Sweeney. Noel was the embodiment of philanthropy and generosity, always determined to ensure that the rewards of his extraordinary business skills and sheer hard work, would be available to help others less fortunate.

The Foundation seeks to continue that legacy of generosity of spirit. It is governed by a Board of Trustees.

Who we support

Our aim is to predominantly support young people and those who are disadvantaged through programmes that provide learning, education and better quality of life. We also seek to support the education of young people seeking a career in the construction industry.

We can assist and support projects or initiatives that help communities to grow, prosper and provide a service that benefits the widest group of people, support education and development of children and young people.

How we can help

Our support includes involvement of our people, a great team of experienced and passionate people across our Group willing to lend a hand, get involved and provide first-hand skills, knowledge, and experience.

We have over 40 years of expertise to offer projects from finance and commercial planning, through construction, marketing skills, landscaping and technical guidance. We can also support projects required IT or people expertise.

We have the ability to provide some financial resources to local community projects and match fund where a local project has already raised funds for a project that meets our criteria.

It may be a local school project, helping a community garden to flourish, improving a play area for children, painting a village hall, a day pit for local kids. We’re happy to help.

How to apply for support

While we would love to support as many charities and projects as we can, it’s not always possible to do so. Our initial criteria below gives an indication of our focus. If your project or charity fits within these guidelines, then please do get in touch by completing the enquiry form below.

  • Local community initiatives in the East and West Midlands where we operate
  • Grass roots community or voluntary groups with an aim to support young and / or disadvantaged people in their community
  • Charities or projects that support reducing Homelessness in our communities

Next Steps

We aim to make it easy for people to apply for support either through funding, support in fund raising, the need for our skills set or expertise. In all cases, our decision making process will be transparent with a simple three stage process:

  1. Applicant to provide details of what support they would like, what benefit it will bring and how they support will be utilized over what period.
  2. For those projects where we believe we can offer support, a meeting will be arranged to enable the applicant to explain their request in more detail, providing understanding.
  3. The Foundation panel will assess the application and their recommendation will then be ratified by the Trustees. Formal applications can be made below.
